I was feeling under the weather recently and found myself with a greater appreciation of Cat Cow pose. I noticed how it engages the spine, chest, and abdomen and warms up the wrists, shoulders, and hips. Several rounds of this and I felt ready to flow.

  • Start in a tabletop position

  • Spread your fingers wide - pressing gently into the mat

  • Exhale. Press your hands into the mat, chin to chest, look towards your belly, round your spine

  • As you inhale, drop your belly toward the mat, reach your chest forward through your arms, tilt your tailbone up, gently gaze forward

One of my instructors always encourages us to make any movements our body is asking for (I like to sway my hips side to side). It takes a few rounds for my breath to synchronize, and then I begin to notice the renewed energy.
